Coach Management

Verizon Connect® Coach™ monitors aspects of your drivers' behavior that directly impacts fuel economy (engine idling, rapid acceleration and harsh braking) and road safety (speeding above posted limits, and speeding above 75 MPH). Using these metrics, a simple calculation is performed that results in a personalized driver score of between 0 and 100 for each member of your fleet or team. Higher scores indicate safer driving and maximized fuel economy.

Coach includes a personal scorecard, a leader board to rank drivers' scores against their peers, event details including where and when events were recorded, and training videos to foster and encourage improved behavior behind the wheel.

Setting Up a Coach Team - Describes the steps needed to create a team of drivers. Drivers must be assigned to the same team before they can view their rank, or the scores of their peers, on the Scorecard and Leaderboard screens in their WorkPlan mobile application.
Setting Up Team View Users - Describes the steps needed to set up a Coach user to have access to the team view. The team view displays ranks and scores for the entire team instead of for individual users.
Uploading Coach Training Videos - Coach allows drivers to access training "channels" containing videos that are used to foster and encourage improved behavior behind the wheel. This section describes the steps needed to add (upload) or remove videos, or edit the details of these videos and the channels that contain them.

 

Understanding Driver Scores

Coach is based on the concept of driver "scores". Driver scores are generated by calculating "good" and "bad" points for drivers. These points are calculated using several journey metrics, and updated following each journey. Good points are given for metrics such as distance traveled, and bad points are given for metrics such as the number of speeding, hard braking, or hard accelerating events detected. Drivers begin each journey with 100 points, and possible scores for any given journey range from 0 (poor) to 100 (excellent) depending on the points they gain or lose through the course of their trip.

If your account includes support for configurable Coach scorecards, the weighting of driving events can also be manually set for each scorecard to meet their unique requirements (for example, to increase the number of bad points generated by excessive speeding events; to reduce the number of bad points generated by hard acceleration events; or to reduce the number of good points generated for driven distances).
