Setting Up Roadside Assistance

The Roadside Assistance feature is available only in accounts that have a Roadside Assistance subscription. Contact Verizon Connect support to purchase a subscription.

After subscribing to Roadside Assistance you must open the Roadside Assistance screen and ensure that all of your fleet’s vehicles have the “Active” status. For vehicles with the “Not Activated” status add any missing vehicle identification numbers (VINs) or edit any invalid VINs to activate them.

The Roadside Assistance Screen

As soon as you have subscribed to Roadside Assistance, you will see a “Roadside Assistance” option in the following places:

In the Tasks section of the navigation bar.
In the account name drop-down menu.

Select one of these “Roadside Assistance” options to open the Roadside Assistance screen.

When you open the Roadside Assistance screen for the first time after subscribing to the Roadside Assistance feature, it can take a few moments to load the screen. Once loaded, the Roadside Assistance screen displays the fleet’s vehicles in the Vehicles covered list.

It is possible that some of the listed vehicles have invalid or missing VINs. The following screenshot shows the Roadside Assistance screen and lists vehicles that have valid, invalid, and missing VINs:

Adding and Editing VINs

For vehicles with missing or invalid VINs, click the Edit link to add or edit the VIN. If you do not have the required permissions, you need to open the Vehicles screen to add or edit the vehicle’s VIN.

Columns in the Vehicles Covered List

The Vehicles covered list has the following columns:

Column Name

Description

Vehicle

The name of the vehicle.

VIN

The vehicle's unique 17-character vehicle identification number. If the vehicle’s VIN has not been entered, the text “VIN missing” is displayed. If the vehicle’s VIN is invalid, the VIN is shown in red text. To add or edit the VIN, click the Edit link.

Status

Indicates whether the vehicle has been activated or not. Vehicles that have a valid VIN are given the status “Active” and are covered by roadside assistance. Vehicles that do not have a valid VIN are given the status of “Not Activated” and are not covered by roadside assistance. In this case, you need to enter a valid VIN to activate the vehicle. To do this, click the Edit link. See Activating a Vehicle for more information.

Edit

You can add or edit a vehicle’s VIN if you have the required permissions. Click the Edit link to add or edit the VIN. If you do not have the required permissions, you need to open the Vehicles screen to add or edit the vehicle’s VIN.

Searching for a Vehicle

If the Vehicles covered list is long, you can enter all or part of a vehicle’s name or VIN into the Search field to filter the list and find the vehicle you need.

Activating a Vehicle

As soon as a vehicle is added with a valid VIN, it is given an “Active” status, which means it is covered by roadside assistance. To add or edit the VIN, click the Edit link in the Vehicles covered list.

Activating Vehicles That Are Added in the Future

When new vehicles are added to the fleet in the future, they are not automatically activated. After adding new vehicles, you must open or refresh the Roadside Assistance screen to activate the vehicles. Any new vehicle with a valid VIN should already have a status of “Active”. If the new vehicle does not have a valid VIN, click the Edit link to add or edit the VIN and activate the vehicle.
