Install Types

Typically, the way the inputs are configured on the units installed in your vehicles and assets is the same for all units of the same type. If your account is enabled to use install types, the main user of your account, or an account administrator, can define the common configurations that you use. Then, by assigning the install type to a set of vehicles (using the Fleets and Teams screen or the hierarchy), all vehicles in the set automatically inherit the configuration of inputs.

1:

Click Add to define a new install type. The panel on the right clears, and is ready for you to start specifying the details of the new install type. When you click Save the new type is added to the list of defined install types.

When adding a new install type, you must save it with a name and device type before you can use the other pages to configure the install type.

2:

Click Copy to make a copy of the selected install type as the starting point for defining a new install type.

3:

Click Delete to remove the definition of the selected install type.

4:

Use the buttons on the right panel to select pages of details about the selected install type. These include:

Details: Give the Install Type a name and indicate the type of device that it corresponds to. This page should be completed first.
Map Inputs: Lets you see which input readings from the specified device type are available for lists, reports, and InSight Alerts.
Diagnostic parameters: Lets you specify how the inputs that are mapped on the Map Inputs tab are displayed in lists and reports.
Diagnostic InSight Alerts: Lets you set up InSight Alerts by setting thresholds on input values.
Device parameters: Lets you view thresholds that are stored within the unit itself.

All of the tabbed pages except the Device parameters page indicate how the server interprets input readings that are sent from the units installed in your vehicles. The Device parameters tab displays thresholds that are stored on the unit itself, which affect the way the unit behaves or when it sends certain input values.

5:
