Engine Diagnostics Reports

Engine diagnostics reports let you know what diagnostic information was received from units that can monitor engine performance. There are several types of engine diagnostics reports:

Detailed (by fleet or vehicle): A list of diagnostic reports for a specified vehicle or from each vehicle in a specified fleet. Different reports are available in this type, depending on the types of units installed in your vehicles.
Summary (by fleet or vehicle): A summary of all diagnostic reports for a specified vehicle or for each vehicle in a specified fleet.
Last report summary by fleet: A list of the current diagnostic information for each vehicle in a specified fleet.
Services summary by fleet: A summary giving totals for the various diagnostic readings reported by the vehicle.
DTC activity: A list of all diagnostic trouble codes reported by specified vehicles or drivers.

Not every report will work for every vehicle type.

Report Settings

The options specific to Engine diagnostics reports that you can set are as follows:

Fleet / Vehicle / Driver: Which vehicles or drivers should be shown in the report.
One Item per Page: Formats the report so that each vehicle starts on a new page when the output format is not HTML.

Report Columns

The report columns differ, depending on the type of report.

Detailed

Detailed (by fleet or vehicle) have the following columns:

Time: The time of the report from the vehicle.
Address: The location of the vehicle at the time of the report.
Fuel Used: The amount of fuel that has been used at the time of the report.
Odometer: The odometer reading at the time of the report.
Engine Time: The number of engine hours at the time of the report.

Additional columns might be displayed, depending on the types of unit installed in your vehicles and the diagnostic inputs connected to those units.

Summary

Summary (by fleet or vehicle) are divided into subsections, depending on the type of diagnostic sensor. Each subsection has separate rows for each input, and columns specific to the input type:

Counter Diagnostics

Counter diagnostics are inputs that increase over time (for example, odometer readings). The Counter diagnostics subsection has the following columns:

Start: The input value at the start of the report period.
End: The input value at the end of the report period.
Range: The difference between Start and End (the amount by which the counter increased over the report period).
Sum: Where applicable, the total number of items added to the counter. If not applicable, this column is left blank.

Gauge Diagnostics

Gauge diagnostics are inputs that provide a reading on a continuous scale (for example, RPM). The Gauge diagnostics subsection has the following columns:

Minimum: The minimum value from the diagnostic input over the report period.
Maximum: The maximum value from the diagnostic input over the report period.
Mean: The mean (average) value from the diagnostic input over the report period.
Range: The difference between the minimum and maximum values over the report period (the amount by which the input value varied).

Switch Diagnostics

Switch diagnostics are inputs that have only two values - "On" or "Off" (for example, seatbelt indicator). The switch diagnostics subsection has the following columns:

Shortest Time Active: The shortest continuous duration for which the sensor was in the "On" position.
Longest Time Active: The longest continuous duration for which the sensor was in the "On" position.
Total Time Active: The total time that the sensor was in the "On" position.
% Time Active: The percentage of time the sensor was in the "On" position.
True Count: The number of times the sensor was active ("On").
False Count: The number of times the sensor was inactive ("Off")
Change Count: The number of times the sensor changed from "On" to "Off" or from "Off" to "On".

Last Report Summary

Last report summary reports have the following columns:

Serial Number: The serial number of the unit installed in the vehicle.
Tag: The unique identifier for the unit installed in the vehicle.
Last Report: The time of the last report received from the vehicle.
Contract Start: The time that the contract for this unit started.
Last location: The last recorded location for the vehicle.
Poll Sent: The time of the last request for a diagnostic report that the server sent to the unit.
Poll Received: The time the unit on the vehicle last reported that it received a poll for a diagnostic report.
HDVDS Provisioned: Yes indicates that the unit received a filter indicating which readings from diagnostic inputs should be included in reports.
The remaining columns give the last reported value for each of the diagnostic inputs. They depend on the filter whose receipt is indicated by the HDVDS Provisioned column.

Services Summary

This report is very dependent on the right diagnostic information being available from a vehicle. The following inputs must be reported by the unit and connected:

Ignition
PTO (Power Take Off)
Boom

For full reports covering all available parameters, the following inputs should also be connected:

Total Fuel Used (No LDVDS Support)
Total Engine Time (No LDVDS Support)
Odometer
Battery Voltage
Engine Coolant Temperature (No LDVDS Support)

Services summary reports include the following columns:

PTO Events:

Vehicle: The name of the vehicle.
Total Engine Run Time: Total time ignition was "On".
Total PTO Run Time: Total time the PTO was "On".
Engine Run Time PTO On: Total time both the ignition and or PTO were "On".
Engine Run Time PTO Off: Total time the ignition was "On" (engine running) minus the time that PTO was "Off".
PTO On, Engine Off (Hybrid): Total time the PTO was "On" minus the time the engine was "Off".
PTO Events: Number of times the PTO was turned "On" or "Off".

Fuel Consumption/Idle Time:

Fuel Consumed PTO On: The total amount of fuel consumed while the PTO was "On". Derived from input on HDVDS or Diagnostic input "Total Fuel Used" during PTO "On" time.
Total Fuel Consumed: The total amount of fuel consumed during the report period. Derived from input on HDVDS or Diagnostic input "Total Fuel Used".
Total Idle Time: The total time the vehicle was idling (engine "On" but no movement).
Non-Productive Idle Time: The total time the vehicle was idling while the PTO and the Boom were "Off".

Boom Events:

Boom Events: The number of times the Boom was turned "On" or "Off".
Boom Time: The total time the Boom was "On".
Stops: The number of Boom stops (ignition "Off") during the report period.

JBUS Diagnostic Status:

Engine Hours: The total time the engine was running (ignition "On"). Derived from input on HDVDS or Diagnostic input "Total Engine Time".
Ending Engine Hours: The last reported Engine Hours that the unit reported. This is a cumulative total for the unit. Derived from input on HDVDS or Diagnostic input "Total Engine Time".
Odometer Mileage: Total distance the odometer reported during the report period. Derived from input on HDVDS/LDVDS or Diagnostic input "Odometer".
Ending Odometer: The last reported odometer reading that the unit reported. This is a cumulative total for the unit. Derived from input on HDVDS/LDVDS or Diagnostic input "Odometer"
Average GPH: If Engine Hours combined with Engine Run Time PTO Off is greater than 0, the Average GPH (Gallons Per Hour) is calculated as [ Total Fuel Consumed / (Engine Hours + Engine Run Time PTO Off) ]. If the resulting value is 0, the Average GPH is derived from input on HDVDS/LDVDS or the Diagnostic input "Average Fuel Economy".
Average MPG: If Total Fuel Consumed is greater than 0, then Average MPG (Miles Per Gallon) is Odometer Mileage / Total Fuel Consumed. If this value is 0, and the vehicle has an LDVDS device, then Average MPG is calculated from the LDVDS Trip Odometer and Trip Fuel Used.
Average Battery Voltage: The average voltage reading from the battery. Derived from input on HDVDS/LDVDS or Diagnostic input "Battery Voltage".
End Fuel Used: The last reported fuel reading that the unit reported. This is a cumulative total for the unit. Derived from input on HDVDS or Diagnostic input "Total Fuel Used".
Max Engine Temp: The maximum engine temperature reported during the report period. Derived from input on HDVDS or Diagnostic input "Engine Coolant Temperature".

DTC Activity Report

DTC Activity reports display the following columns:

Date: The date and time of the report from the vehicle.
Vehicle: The name of the vehicle that reported the diagnostic trouble code.
Year: The year of manufacture of the vehicle.
