This topic provides information about updates that might directly impact you following an update to the Navigation by Verizon Connect mobile application. You can find information about the current release, and previous releases, below.
 

Update the Navigation by Verizon Connect mobile app installed on your drivers' devices to take advantage of the new features, enhancements, and bug fixes described below.

Navigation v6.18.1

New Features and Enhancements

Added a new setting called 'Current Speed and Limit Display Always On' on the 'Settings' > 'General' screen. When this setting is set to 'On', the current speed limit and the current speed are always displayed on Guidance and FollowMe views. When set to 'Off', the current speed limit and current speed are displayed on those views only when you exceed the speed limit. This feature is set to 'Off' by default.
Improved highway exit information. When in Guidance view, highway numbers and names are now displayed, instead of just the names; for example, 'Hwy-401 / Hwy of Heroes' rather than 'Highway of Heroes'.
The Navigation user interface, including spoken directions, is now available in German and French. You can change your preferred language on the 'Settings' > 'General' screen.
Corrected a fault that prevented markers that used Access Paths from being regarded as valid, which in turn caused routes that included these markers to fail.
Made performance, stability, and usability improvements.

Navigation v6.18

New Features and Enhancements

Added the 'Last Mile to Marker' feature that gives drivers verbal and on-screen information, such as access paths and arrival notes, when arriving at and departing from their destination.
The map's auto-zoom functionality, which was introduced in a previous release and was set to 'Off' by default, is now set to 'On' by default.
The 'Color Turn Notifications' setting has been renamed to 'Enhanced Turn Notifications', and now includes a 'blinking and clicking' feature for the 'Turn' icon. When 'Enhanced Turn Notifications' are enabled, and the driver is less than 400 meters from their next maneuver, the 'Turn' icon blinks and a clicking sound is repeated at regular intervals (if the driver's device is not muted). Note that this feature may not work as expected for some LG models.

Navigation v6.17.5

New Features and Enhancements

The Navigation user interface, including spoken directions, is now available in the Mexican Spanish language.
A beta feature, called 'Color Turn Notifications', has been added. The feature explores the potential value of changing the color of the directions view background to notify the driver that a turn is imminent.

Navigation v6.17.4

New Features and Enhancements

Improved highway exit information on device displays and in spoken directions.
By default, the Settings > 'Vehicle' screen on the NavGE application lets drivers change vehicle settings. This screen can now be disabled on the Verizon Connect platform. If you do not require driver control, email support to request that the option be disabled. If the option is disabled, drivers see a message on the 'Settings' > 'Vehicle' screen that says 'Your administrator has specified that these settings cannot be changed'.
Added auto-zoom functionality to the map, so that the next maneuver is always displayed. The level of auto-zoom depends on the distance to the next maneuver. Auto-zoom is a beta feature, and is set to 'Off' by default.

Added support for truck-specific speed limits in the UK.
Added support for Motion Lock mode, which prevents users from interacting with the mobile device screen when the vehicle is moving. Contact Verizon Connect support to enable this feature.
Added the field 'Distance to Marker' to the email that is sent when a user submits marker correction feedback.
Added a satisfaction survey that allows drivers to provide feedback about the app.
Added support for sending logs directly from the app to Verizon Connect support.

Navigation v6.16

New Features and Enhancements

Enhanced location search to return customer-created and shared markers. Marker attributes, such as access paths and arrival notes, will be included in searches in a future version of the app.
Changed the method for retrieving dimension units for vehicles: Vehicle dimension units are no longer defined by the vehicle's GPS location, but by the new setting 'Dimension Units' on the 'Vehicle Settings' screen.
Moved the 'Weight Units' setting from the 'General Settings' screen to the 'Vehicle Settings' screen.

Navigation v6.15

New Features and Enhancements

Modified Navigation to retrieve the vehicle settings (vehicle type and dimensions) from Verizon Connect servers for the vehicle that the driver has selected in the Verizon Connect® WorkPlan™ app. If no vehicle settings have been configured, Navigation uses the default type and dimensions defined for the customer account. Navigation caches the vehicle settings and refreshes them from the server every 3 hours.
Modified the behavior of the 'Change Defaults' setting to work independently for each setting screen.
Corrected an issue that prevented iso-latin accented characters from remaining in the search bar of the Navigation app's location search.

Navigation v6.14

New Features and Enhancements

Added an offboard map feature that gets map and route data over the internet. When this feature is enabled, Navigation mobile application users can navigate immediately after installing or updating the application, without downloading maps. This option is available only on accounts participating in the offboard maps and routing Beta program. Contact your Verizon Connect account manager to sign up for the Beta program.
Improved support for map data updates by SD card on Android devices. Contact your Verizon Connect account manager for details.
Updated the location search feature to support searches using either offboard maps or maps installed on the device.
Updated the reporting of vehicle weight on the 'General Settings > Vehicle' screen in the Navigation mobile application to round to the nearest whole number.
Added support for remembering the mute button setting across app restarts.

Navigation v6.13

New Features and Enhancements

Added an address correction option to the Navigation mobile application to make it easier for drivers to report incorrect destination addresses. Drivers can submit corrections directly from Guidance view by tapping the feedback icon. For details, see Submitting Feedback.
Added GPS signal notifications to the mobile application to alert drivers when the GPS signal is unavailable, when the signal is being acquired, and when it is available again.
Added a Navigation mobile app option to configure speed alerts to play a sound instead of a verbal warning when you exceed the speed limit. You can change the configuration from the General Settings menu.
Improved the map data update feature for Navigation mobile apps running on Android devices to support automated installation of map updates from an SD card installed on the device. Contact your Verizon Connect account manager for details.
Added the capability to support remote map data updates from the Map Data screen on supported Android devices running Navigation v6.13.5 or later. Previously, the  remote update feature did not work on devices where the initial map data was installed using an SD card.
Added the Verbal Speed Alerts option to the Navigation mobile application to configure speed alerts to play a verbal warning instead of sound when the driver exceeds the speed limit.  The new option is available on the General Settings menu.

Resolved Issues

Fixed an issue with route status updates.
Fixed an issue that caused Navigation to generate weight-restricted routes for vehicles with weights close to but still under weight limit thresholds for regional road restrictions.

Navigation v6.12

New Features and Enhancements

Settings: Added a setting to configure GPS update frequency for Navigation customer accounts to optimize the vehicle localization work required for API operations.
Location sharing service integration: Added capability to use Navigation with a location sharing service to send customer notifications with real-time information about a driver's current location and estimated arrival time. This feature requires integration and third-party support. Contact Verizon Connect for details..

Routing and Guidance

Improved precision of Navigation routes by supporting ability to generate routes using the intersection point data associated with addresses. Fleet Administrators can add intersection point data to addresses to improve location accuracy.
Improved accuracy of speed alerts.
Automatically report distance units based on location. For example, if a driver is in an area that reports distance in miles, distance is reported in yards, feet, and miles. When crossing into an area that uses metric measurements, distance is reported in meters and kilometers.
Fixed an issue in Guidance view to ensure that the Turn Arrow icon displays correctly during navigation.
Fixed a Navigation mobile application issue that caused some drivers to get an "Already at selected destination" error when navigating from a completed job to the next one.

Navigation v6.11

New Features and Enhancements

Navigation instructions include arrival and departure notes in the Route Overview and Route list views.
For markers with arrival notes, arrival information is now read aloud as the driver approaches the marker.
Drivers can now view any marker arrival notes on the Arrival page after arriving at the marker.
Added support for Brazil map data.
Fixed an issue that prevented the Navigation mobile application display screen from  turning off when the application is in the background.
Fixed the Route Overview feature so that the "Calculating route..." message is always displayed during route generation.

Live traffic information can be used for calculating routes and ETAs.
The feedback sent from the application now includes more details, including customer and driver IDs, and routing information.

External navigation requests launch into the Route Overview screen.
The Route Overview screen displays the link Hazmat Settings, which opens the Load Type settings, and, if hazmat settings are defined, a hazmat icon next to the link.

The destination of a route is now displayed in 'Guidance' view. This allows drivers to be reminded of their destination and to verify that they are navigating to the correct location.
If there are any hazmat (hazardous material) settings configured for a route, an icon is displayed at the bottom of the 'Guidance' view screen.
Drivers can now receive road edit files that are specific to their organization.
When you have navigated to a job from WorkPlan, arrive and close the destination status bar by tapping the x button, you are returned back to the Job screen within WorkPlan.
Your driver details are now displayed in the Driver Details menu, from where you can also log out.

Navigation can now be enabled and disabled globally for all subuser accounts or for specific driver accounts from the Verizon Connect platform .
Navigation application and routing settings can now be configured globally for all subuser accounts or for specific driver accounts from the Verizon Connect platform. You can also configure whether drivers may or may not override the routing settings from within the application.
Text entered as part of a location search is no longer spell-checked. (Applicable to iOS).

Navigation v6.5.0

New Features and Enhancements

For Hours of Service (HOS) users, HOS status clocks are now displayed below the map in 'Follow' and 'Guidance' views. Tapping on the HOS status clocks opens HOS in WorkPlan.
Speed alerts now occur every 60 seconds, rather than every 10 seconds as previously.
The estimated download time is now displayed in a more user-friendly format when downloading map data.
If there is a road edit file present, this is now displayed with its most recent download date and time on the Settings page.
Text entered as part of a location search is no longer spell-checked. (Android only).

New Features and Enhancements

Drivers will automatically receive road edit updates that Verizon Connect has created. The road edits are to close or open particular road segments. The affected road segment will be avoided when routing to a destination.
The guidance view can now be viewed in landscape mode on mobile phones.
Search results for POIs (points of interest) and addresses can now be viewed in a single consolidated list.
Font sizes have been made larger and more readable through the application.
The design of the night mode has been improved.
Data download has been improved in speed, reliability, and in the accuracy of the ETA (estimated time of arrival).
