Daily Summary Reports

This section describes the new daily summary reports. If you are using the legacy daily summary reports, see Legacy Daily Summary Reports.

Daily summary reports list daily summary statistics for each driver or vehicle for each day in the selected time period. They can be further specified either by Driver (using the hierarchy or by team) or by Vehicle (using the hierarchy or by fleet).

There are two types of daily summary report:

Daily Summary by Driver: A list of daily summary statistics for each driver, with one row per driver per day. Ordered by driver, then by date. The report summary lists overall totals.
Daily Summary by Vehicle: A list of daily summary statistics for each vehicle, with one row per vehicle per day. Ordered by vehicle, then by date. The report summary lists overall totals.

The following screenshot shows a "Daily Summary by Driver" report.

At the top of the report is a Totals summary statistics table. This table displays statistical data for all vehicles or drivers over the entire date range of the report. The summary statistic tables might include some or all of the following information:

Distance: The total distance traveled (in the user's specified units), for given route. Trip distances are calculated using odometer values reported by the engine. When no odometer value is available, GPS points are used to calculate distance.
Route Time: The total time from the start of the first trip to the end of the final trip in the given time period.
Engine On Time: The total duration that the engine was running, and the sum of all trips in the given subset. Calculated using engine time reported by engine. When no engine time is available, ignition (on/off) status is used, and Engine On Time is calculated server side.
Transit Time: The amount of time that the vehicle spent moving between the start time and the end time. This is calculated by subtracting idle time from engine on time, but should also equal arrival time minus departure time for any given trip (where applicable).
Idle Time: Total time a vehicle is not moving and the engine is on, as long as the vehicle has satisfied the stop minute length requirement (defaults to 5 minutes).
Non Productive Idle Time: The amount of time a vehicle is idle (not moving, with engine on, having satisfied the stop minute length requirement, which defaults to 5 minutes) when the PTO (power take off) status is off. This is only available on vehicles where the PTO is being monitored by telematics hardware (and installed by a certified Verizon Connect technician). The time spent idling after the ignition is turned on (Ignition On) and the vehicle leaves (Departure Time) is counted in the same row as the trip the vehicle leaves on, not in the previous row (where this is part of the stand time).
Time At Location: The amount of time spent at the end location, before starting another trip. This is the time from when the vehicle stopped moving until it started moving on the next trip. Note that Time at Location is not shown for the last trip of the day.
Speed Exceptions: The number of times the vehicle exceeded a speed threshold of 75 MPH.
Total Stops: The total number of stops in the Stops at Categories column.
Stops at Categories: The number of stops the vehicle made, grouped by the category of the marker where the vehicle stopped. If the vehicle made a stop that was not at a marker, the category is given as "Unknown".

Report Settings

The setting options specific to daily summary reports are as follows:

Time Frame Options: A drop-down menu that lets you select the time frame for the report.
Team or Fleet: Use this section to specify which drivers, teams, vehicles, fleets, or sections of the hierarchy tree to show in the report. The Team and Fleet sections have the following features:

oA Show empty nodes check box that you can select if you want to see all hierarchy nodes, even those with no drivers or vehicles.
oA Search field, with Previous and Next buttons so you can navigate within search results.
oTwo columns: The Team section has a Name column (showing the names of Teams and Drivers) and a Driver Count column (showing the number of drivers in the selected team). The Fleet section has a Name column (showing the names of Fleets and Vehicles) and a Vehicle Count column (showing the number of vehicles in the selected fleet).

Include Tag Filter: Allows for selection of drivers or vehicles based on user-defined tags.
Exclude Tag Filter: Allows for exclusion of drivers or vehicles based on user-defined tags.

Report Columns

The columns of the daily summary reports are displayed in a different order for "Daily Summary by Driver" and "Daily Summary by Vehicle" reports. The columns are as follows:

1.Driver Name: For "Daily Summary by Driver" reports, this column shows the driver's name. For "Daily Summary by Vehicle" reports, this column shows the first driver assigned to the vehicle on the specified day.
2.Vehicle: For "Daily Summary by Vehicle" reports, this column shows the vehicle's name. For "Daily Summary by Driver" reports, this column shows the first vehicle driven by the given driver on the specified day.
3.Date: The day being summarized.
4.Start Time: The time when the first trip of the day started.
5.End Time: The time when the last trip of the day ended. Note that the vehicle might have moved after this time if the trip lasted overnight.
6.Transit Time: The amount of time that the vehicle spent moving between the "Start Time" and the "End Time". This is the sum of "Transit Time" for all trips. This is calculated by subtracting "Idle Time" from "Engine On Time", but should also equal "End Time" minus "Start Time" for any given trip.
7.Time at Location: The amount of time between the "Start Time" and the "End Time" that the vehicle was not moving. This is the sum of "Time at Location" for all trips.
8.Route Time: The amount of time between the "Start Time" and the "End Time".
9.Idle Time: The time spent idling (ignition on but not moving) between the "Start Time" and the "End Time".
10.Non-productive Idle Time: The amount of idle time when no productive inputs were on.
11.Engine On Time: Measures total duration for which the engine was running, for the sum of all trips in the given subset. This is calculated using engine time reported by the engine. When no engine time is available, ignition ("On"/"Off") status is used, and "Engine Running Time" is calculated server side.
12.Distance (units): The total distance traveled (in the user’s specified units), for all trips between the "Start Time" and "End Time". Trip distances are calculated using odometer values reported by the engine. When no odometer value is available, GPS points are used to calculate the distance.
13.Speed Exceptions: The number of times the vehicle exceeded a speed threshold of 75 MPH.
14.Stops at Categories: The number of stops the vehicle made, grouped by the primary category of the marker where the vehicle stopped. If the vehicle made a stop that was not at a marker, the category is "Unknown".
15.Total Stops: The total number of stops in the Stops at Categories column.
